
Catarina Casqueiro
Catarina graduated from the National Conservatory Dance School in Lisbon and began her career with a professional internship at the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company in Israel, supported by a scholarship from the Gulbenkian Foundation. She later joined Vórtice Dance Company, performing in Italy, Mexico, and Portugal.
She has worked with independent choreographers such as Marco Ferreira, Alice Klock & Florian Lochner, René Vinther, São Castro & António Cabrita, Nélia Pinheiro, Filipa Peraltinha, Gonçalo Lobato, Miguel Esteves, and Pedro Ramos.
Since 2018, in collaboration with Tiago Coelho, she has developed various choreographic projects exploring the symbiosis of bodies, optical illusion, and the limits of the physical body, both individually and in duos. In recent years, she has presented her own creations at several national and international festivals, winning the Audience Award at the Soloduo Festival (Germany), 3rd place plus the Audience Award at ICC Linkage (Bulgaria), and 1st place at Prospettiva Danza Teatro (Italy).
Most recently, in her solo career, Catarina was invited to choreograph six episodes for the series Emília, produced by Maria Mayer and directed by Filipa Amaro.
Beyond the screen, she was a guest choreographer at Quorum Academy, where she presented Deep(in) at Teatro D. João V (2023), and a guest choreographer for Kayzer Ballet, directed by Ricardo Runa, where she premiered her latest creation, Transformers, at Teatro Municipal da Covilhã (2024).
