Beatriz Mira

Beatriz Mira began her dance studies at the Conservatório Regional do Baixo Alentejo and completed her training at Escola Domus Dança in Porto.

She started her professional career in 2019 with a project by Willi Dorner at Companhia Instável, and between 2020 and 2023, she was part of the cast of the Companhia Portuguesa de Bailado Contemporâneo (CPBC), under the direction of Vasco Wellenkamp, also performing pieces by Miguel Ramalho, Margarida Belo Costa, Benvindo Fonseca, Ricardo Freire, and Iratxe Ansa & Igor Bacovich. At the same time, she was also part of COMPOTA, a project directed by Paula Pinto.

As a freelancer, in 2023, she collaborated again with Companhia Instável for the creation ‘TAKE’ by São Castro and António Cabrita, and in 2024, with Ana Casquilho for the piece ‘À Deriva’, with IID Company for the piece ‘Hear_Me’ by Remy Tilburg, and with São Castro for the solo ‘Carta ao Corpo que Luta’.

Her first choreographic experience was the creation of the solo ‘Só sei que nada sei’ for Festival M.A.R. 2017 in Sines.

In November 2021, in co-creation and co-performance with Tiago Barreiros, she premiered ‘CORRENTE’ at Festival do Lugar Futuro, and in 2022, a new version of this duet became part of the CPBC repertoire. In June of the same year, ‘CORRENTE’ was presented in Rotterdam at the Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition, receiving the Partner Award from the Dutch National Ballet, and in October 2022, it was performed at the 30th Quinzena de Dança de Almada. In 2023, this duet continued touring at other international festivals.

In July 2023, still in partnership, they premiered the duet ‘café.’ at the Blois Dance Festival, and in January 2024, they premiered ‘Out in the Heartland’ at the Holland Dance Festival, a piece for the dancers of the Junior Company of Het National Ballet.

In the same year, they also premiered ‘the horMoans’, their first full-length piece, co-produced by three European festivals—Frei Art Festival, 10 Sentidos Festival, and Dance Festival Malta—through the EFFEA program. Inspired by this piece, they later created their latest short work, ‘the horMoans - is that all there is’.

Beyond this collaboration, in 2023, she also co-created and co-performed ‘Atopos’ with Miguel Santos, a piece that premiered at the FIDANC International Festival in September of that year and won the Mostra Nacional de Jovens Criadores award from Gerador magazine.

As a continuation of her education, in 2024, she completed her Master’s Degree in Creation and Professional Practices at the Escola Superior de Dança.
